SALA Festival

SALA Festival begins August 1

The 2023 South Australian Living Artists Festival begins Tuesday 1 August with a remarkable program of 10,915 artists in 697 exhibitions across the state throughout August.

Artists will display a diverse array of artworks, including paintings, prints, sculptures, ceramics, glass, and photography. Notable participants this year include Angela Valamanesh, James Tylor, Laura Wills, Vans the Omega, and Gail Hocking.

The SALA Hub will return to Queen’s Theatre with exciting events such as workshops and a drawing marathon directed by Christopher Orchard, and the annual SALA slide Night on Thursday 3 August.

There are also SALA walking tours in the CBD and new artist studio bus tours, including a tour of Adelaide east-side galleries led by sculpture and installation artist Oakey, and a tour of west-side galleries by 2023 Ramsay Art Prize winner Ida Sophia.

Helen Fuller is this year’s featured artist, and her remarkable work graces the cover of the 2023 festival program and poster. Copies of the program are available now at Foodland stores, SALA venues, and civic centres, or you can view it online.
