Thank you for supporting local TV!

Thank you for supporting local TV! As you’re no doubt now aware, community TV has been saved from its June 30 switch-off with a three-year licence extension, keeping C44 and C31 Melbourne on free-to-air TV at least until June 2024. After years on the brink of switch-off every June, three years gives us the stability to create great new local TV and new opportunities to get involved and learn the skills of screen production. To our community, everyone who has signed a petition, shared our social media campaigns, written to a local MP or the communications minister — thank you! Your contribution has demonstrated the community support for local TV that enabled this result. Thank you to our board, our many program makers, volunteers and interns who’ve stoically persisted through years of uncertainty, remaining committed to bringing you local stories, services and events. Community TV is TV made by our community for our community and without them C44 wouldn’t be possible. Thank you also to our political supporters who, for years now, have steadfastly and vocally advocated for community TV and its value to Australians. Thank you to Michelle Rowland MP, Senator Marielle Smith, Senator Penny Wong, Senator Kimberley Kitching, Amanda Rishworth MP, Jayne Stinson MP, Rebekha Sharkie MP, former Senator Nick Xenophon, Senator Stirling Griff, Senator Rex Patrick, Tammy Franks MLC, Senator Sarah Hanson-Young, Robert Simms MLC, Frank Pangallo MLC, Senator Simon Birmingham, David Pisoni MP, Premier Steven Marshall, Jing Lee MLC, and Lord Mayor of Adelaide Sandy Verschoor. Thank you also for the support of our valued partners including University of South Australia, Flinders University, South Australian Film Corporation, Russell Media, Community Broadcasting Association of Australia, Community Broadcasting Foundation, National Ethnic and Multicultural Broadcasters’ Council, RPH Australia, First Nations Media Australia, Christian Media & Arts Australia and Community Bridging Services Inc.
