Thank you for supporting local TV! As you’re no doubt now aware, community TV has been saved from its June 30 switch-off with a three-year licence extension, keeping C44 and C31 Melbourne on free-to-air TV at least until June 2024. After years on the brink of switch-off every June, three years gives us the stability to create great new local TV and new opportunities to get involved and learn the skills of screen production. To our community, everyone who has signed a petition, shared our social media campaigns, written to a local MP or the communications minister — thank you! Your contribution has demonstrated the community support for local TV that enabled this result.
Thank you to our board, our many program makers, volunteers and interns who’ve stoically persisted through years of uncertainty, remaining committed to bringing you local stories, services and events. Community TV is TV made by our community for our community and without them C44 wouldn’t be possible.
